On Slowing Down and Joining a Swiss Collective

Dear Friend of my art practice,

I wanted to share an update after a reflective pause. At the start of 2026, I changed tempo in order to take emotional and artistic stock. As some of you know, it has been a turbulent few years dogged by ongoing health issues, yet marked by deeper explorations in my art practice—specifically as a meditative digital artist exploring memory, identity, loss, and growth through semi-abstract pieces and film.

Just over two years ago, my first experimental micro-short film was shortlisted for the MetaMorph Awards, and an early piece from the Violas series was exhibited locally. Since then, I have shown work in London, Edinburgh, Mexico City, and beyond; I was shortlisted for the Visual Artist Association's Art500 international prize 2025 and long-listed their Artist of the Year 2026. I realised in January this year, after finishing three large-scale triptychs, that I was loving what I was doing but was also in danger of burning up some of my carefully garnered health and energy. I decided it was time to slow down and focus on words and thoughts, alongside my visual output. Gradually, I found myself working at the intersection between the artistic/emotional and the intellectual, following what Kandinsky called my own 'spiritual-logic'.

Now, as we pass into the second half of the year, I am pleased to announce that I have been selected as a founding member of The Spiritual in Art International Collective, curated by Nellimya Arthouse in Switzerland.

 You can see more here:

This is a significant development: Nellimya is launching a permanent platform for a group of 17 artists engaged in ongoing research on the metaphysical territories of consciousness. They are not merely selecting art to display; they are looking for artists whose method aligns with their inquiry. My submission was based on a working concept of ‘iterative revelation’—a practice where the spiritual dimension emerges through the discipline of sustained making, rather than through predetermined themes. I will be joining this collective as a founding member when it launches formally in August, with the first public project, The Code of the Subtle, an international group show taking place this coming September. Details of the exhibition schedule and associated events will follow shortly.

I want to thank you again for connecting with my work at its most fragile and early stages.

As a woman, an artist, and a fallible human, doubts often loom large, shadowing the successes. Having friends and allies who remind you of the daylight around your efforts is amazing—in fact, incalculable.

 With sincere gratitude,

 Catrin
